Ancestral Healing Pt 2: Energetic Transcendence
I’ve always had a keen interest in energy work, magic, the ethereal. Since I was 19 I studied astrology, yoga, chakra healing, witchery, working with the elements, dream interpretation, psychology, etc. but never made it a focal point in my career until the last few years.
In an effort to not only heal myself, but aid in the healing of others, I studied Reiki, various methods of meditation and dabbled in Qi Gong to develop an even deeper understanding of the chakras and how energy flows through the body. Naturally that quickly ignited my commitment to a more profound yogic path, resulting in a yoga teacher certification. In doing so I expanded my vision on how to understand and treat chronic pain as well as the long term physical effects of emotional trauma.
As a child I wasn't much into sports but I was fairly active and adventurous. My favorite pastimes being skating, riding bikes and climbing trees all led to many spills, scrapes and even a broken ankle. Three surgeries, puberty and a growth spurt while in the cast left me with chronic back pain. Over the years, regardless of my activity level, exercise routine, healthcare and treatment, I have lived with low level chronic pain or discomfort in my upper back, arms and hands.
Amid my path as a healer, still digesting content surrounding ancestral trauma, I noticed a pattern: regardless of the cause, in my immediate family, we all have a chronic ailment in the upper back/neck/chest area and that corresponds to the Heart/Throat Chakra.
Naturally, I dug deeper into my research.
Physically speaking, the Heart Chakra resides in the upper chest cavity, and corresponds to the thymus, thoracic spine, extending through the arms and hands. When there is an energetic upset in the heart such as an emotional heartbreak, the physical body can demonstrate the emotional pain the form of hunched posture, muscle aches, misalignment in the spine causing pinched nerves, loss of sensation in the arms or hands, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.
The same goes for the Throat Chakra which resides in the neck; if there is some unresolved trauma involving not speaking your truth, stifled self expression, holding grudges, etc. one can develop a physical manifestation of that dysfunction in the thyroid, ears, vocal cords, respiratory system and cervical spine.
In learning all of this, what I’d come to realize is that my mother shared my same ailments, however, caused by her own various mishaps and life experiences. Meanwhile my dad and siblings live with asthma, slightly hunched shoulders, and other respiratory issues throughout their lives as well.
I sat with these observations for quite some time before taking any action.
What some might perceive as a coincidence or hereditary, I see something that goes deeper, beyond, dare I say it, science. So I approached my brother with my findings….
